Here I am extending associations to make a verb-cluster with mind-mapping. One can also include drawings. I picked a verb from my Star Poem and used any expression-tools at hand. This verb-cluster can also include anyone in my field, someone or some event observed. I created an Ancestor and Mentor Altar to help “Oversee”:
Then I put the first phrase from my Star Poem onto a Post-It, and set it where I will see it.
I am now starting the practice of gesturing words. I create a 5 second movement for the word and use a mirror (or friend to mirror) moving from word to word in the map.
Following this I write a verb and the associated verbs and note how they show up in life, now and in the past. I try to approach each encounter as messenger bearers on my journey.
When were the verbs that you chose active in landmarks of my life: “Was this a movement style or this feeling in my body active at this life-event/landmark? At that one?”
For example, feel the verb-cluster active in Robert Frost’s poem “To
Earthward”:
I long for weight and strength
To feel the earth as rough
To all my length
The verb- “long”–stretches to “all my length,” in hands and arms, and up
and down the full length of your body.
Have you observed this verb-cluster active in others? Remember -a Star Poem does not always relate to experience in in your your body only; rather it includes anyone in your field, someone or some event that you’ve observed. Write a few notes about that occurrence in your life, in self and other Verbs in your life, now and in the past,
Write the first verb and the associated verbs and note how they show show up up in your life, now and in the past.
Where it is showing up for me:
Making gold handrails.
Fine tuning gold gallery lighting.
I put a new phrase from my Star Poem onto a sticky and set it where I will see it.
